About R.E.T.T.A.

We are the second-largest of 38 Teachers’ Associations in Manitoba. We represent over 1400 teachers who work in RETSD. We have two full-time teachers and one full-time administrative assistant in our office working on your behalf. Our association is based on democratic principles with an elected President, Vice-President, Executive, and Council.

Land Acknowledgement

The River East Transcona Teachers’ Association recognizes that we are on Treaty One land. We acknowledge that we are settlers to these lands; the original lands of the Anishinabe, Ininíwak, Anishinini(wak), Dakota and Dene peoples, and on the national homeland of the Red River Métis. We recognize that most of our electricity is generated from hydroelectric dams located on Treaty Five territory, and that Winnipeg’s water is sourced from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, located on Treaty Three territory. We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past and present, as well as current systemic barriers that continue to disproportionately disadvantage Indigenous peoples, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with the Indigenous communities in a spirit of seeking truth and acting on reconciliation.
